Tunneling and water treatment

In conjunction with local partner Chun Wo Development Holdings Ltd., CEC won the Stonecutters Island contract portion of the Hong Kong government’s Harbor Area Treatment Scheme , Stage 2A (HATS 2A). The scope of work included the construction of an effluent tunnel and disinfection facilities in Kowloon. The teams constructed an 880 m effluent tunnel with an internal diameter of 8.5 m at 95 m below ground level using the drill-and-blast method. The tunnel plays a key role in connecting disinfection facilities with other work facilities and the project set a milestone of CEC’s expertise in environmental engineering related work in Hong Kong.
