CEC awarded contract for the Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point and associated works- Contract 6

CEC was awarded the Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point and associated works– Contract 6 by the HKSAR Civil Engineering and Development Department. This is another important milestone CEC has achieved in the HK market.

The Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point and associated works contract will establish a boundary control point (BCP) at Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai in the northeastern New Territory, servicing cross-boundary cargo and passenger traffic between Hong Kong and Shenzhen East. Furthermore, BCP will connect the Shenzhen Eastern Corridor providing more convenient cross-boundary travel from eastern Guangdong (including Shantou, Shanwei, and Chaozhou) and nearby provinces (e.g. Fujian and Jiangxi).

The entire project, exclusive of BCP construction, is divided into six work contracts. CEC and its JV partners will work on the Connecting Road (Northern Section) as specified under Contract 6. This includes a 3.2km dual-lane viaduct, approximately 700m section of Cheung Shan Tunnel, approximately 700m of dual-lane at grade road, two ancillary tunnel ventilation buildings, and a sewage treatment plant.

The project began on June 24, 2015 and is expected to be completed within 30 months.
