CEC was awarded two new projects at the end of 2015. Taiwan Business Division (TBD) obtained a contract from Shan-Chih Asset Development to construct a building in Tucheng District, New Taipei City, Taiwan. And International Business Division (IBD) received notice from Hong Kong’s Civil Engineering and Development that it won the bid for Kai Tak Development – Stage 2 Infrastructure Works.
The “Kai Tak Development – Stage 2 Infrastructure Works for Development at the Southern Part of the Former Runway” is part of the urban development of Hong Kong’s old Kai Tak Airport site. The CEC-CCC Joint Venture bid is worth HK$1.947 billion (approximately US$ 251.17 million). The work involves the design and construction of dual 2-lane district distributor roads of about 1,700m, 590m single 2-lane access roads with vehicular underpass, and associated road work such as footpaths, noise barriers, sewerage and drainage works, etc. The project is expected to be completed within 46 months.
As for the Shan-Chih project in Taiwan, named Tatung Smart Manor, it will involve the development of three residential buildings with three underground floors and 22/24/27 aboveground floors. The total floor area is 80,234 m2. TBD won the contract worth NT$3.65 billion (approximately US$111.8 million) with the project scheduled to be completed in 2018.
These two contracts will be a great contributor to the company’s revenue at the end of 2015. The Kai Tak Development – Stage 2 project is the second major project CEC IBD has won in recent years from CEDD of the HKSAR Government. It shows CEC not only accumulated large project construction experience but also a good reputation amongst our clients in the Hong Kong market. Meanwhile, the Shan-Chin project demonstrates CEC is a well trusted brand by our clients even during market downturns in Taiwan.
