CEC Taiwan Business Division (TBD) recently won a contract for the CQ850A section of the Taipei MRT Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin Line with a bidding price of NT$2.945 billion (approximately US$ 91.88 million), marking the second large-scale civil engineering project won by CEC two years following the CQ842 tender in Taiwan.
The project entails the construction of underground station LG04 and a 1,900m TBM tunnel with a 5.6m diameter; oversight of all electrical, mechanical and environmental engineering works; and the construction of common utility ducts. The biggest challenge will be tunneling through Xindian River underneath levee piles on both sides. The construction team’s effective resource management and detailed planning which was supported by the assessment team’s research and exploration of project details allowed CEC to win the tender. The project is expected to begin in Jan. 2017, and be completed within 88 months.
